Author bio notes: Priscilla Gibson-Roberts
Priscilla Gibson-Roberts has published five previous books and
many magazine articles, all with the goal of preserving textile traditions.
Her work appears regularly in Interweave Knits, and has also been
presented in Spin-Off and Knitters (where she was
spinning editor for thirteen years). Her books include Knitting in
the Old Way: Designs & Techniques from Ethnic Sweaters (Nomad
Press, 2004); Simple Socks, Plain & Fancy (Nomad Press, 2004
and 2001); High-Whorling: A Spinners Guide to an Old-World Skill
(Nomad Press, 1998); Ethnic Socks and Stockings (XRX, 1995); Salish
Indian Sweaters (Dos Tejedoras Fiber Arts, 1989); and Knitting
in the Old Way (Interweave Press, 1985). With a graduate degree in
clothing and textiles from Purdue University, Priscilla has taught many
workshops and college-level courses. Library Journal says Priscilla
has led the current revival of techniques used by traditional fiber
artisans. She lives in Colorado.
